HELEN HANSON
Etchings with Aquatint
Helen Hanson taught Languages before becoming a
professional artist. She is a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and
the highly successful Greenwich Printmakers. She has work in galleries
throughout Britain, Europe and Australia.
Her etchings combine detail and pattern with the
changing aspects of the land. Colours, moods and textures resonate from one
plate to the next in a series of closely related images.
In her light, bright South London studio she
builds up her body of work from sketches and photographs from her walks. The
most important element is a strong sense of place. "I still interpret and
translate things. Now it's into aquatint and open bite".
