  JANE MACINTOSH

Jane Macintosh will be showing a collection of her jewellery at the Pyramid Gallery in York as part of their Christmas Exhibition, making an ideal choice for a special Christmas present.

Creating jewellery is a second career for Jane.   Working originally as a translator, she then went to the Sir John Cass School of Art in London in the nineteen eighties and set up a jewellery workshop in Clapham, South London, where she has worked ever since.

Jane makes one-off pieces of jewellery, using traditional goldsmithing skills.  She likes to combine silver with high carat yellow and white gold to give subtle contrasts of tone and colour in her clean, symmetrical designs, sometimes oxidising the silver for a stronger contrast and dramatic effect.  Her work is inspired by the designers and artists of the Bauhaus movement and by the urban landscape in which she lives and works.

Jane's jewellery has been shown in galleries all over the British Isles and in selected Fairs such as the Goldsmiths' Fair and Origin (both in London), EUnique (Karlsruhe), Sieraad (Amsterdam) and SOFA (Chicago) and is in private collections worldwide.
