John Jelfs ceramics

John Jelfs studied ceramics at Cheltenham College of Art and in 1973 he soon went on to establish ‘The Cotswold Pottery’ with his wife Jude, in Bourton-on-the-Water

Every piece of pottery is unique – being made entirely by hand, and decoration is kept to a minimum. Wherever possible John uses locally sourced ingredients of clays, limestone and woodash for his glazes of celadon, ochre and shino. John also likes to soda-fire many of pieces.

Both John and Judes work has evolved over the forty years since starting the Pottery and has been exhibited world-wide at leading galleries.
