The Reading Room, hand coloured etching by Mychael Barratt
This etching is set in the British Museum by what was once the reading room of the British Library. The reading room was established in 1857 and Mychael’s print depicts many of it’s more illustrious visitors including Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain and Virginia Wolff. The characters are positioned in the same composition as Raphael’s painting School of Athens.
