Cast optical glass sculpture R1683 by Colin Reid
This cast glass form is triangular on its base with two faces cut and polished and the third ‘rough’ side coated with copper sulphate that gives the whole piece a brilliant blue colour highlighted with silvery bubbles. The use of optical glass in Reid’s work allows a perfect reflection on the inside of each polished face, the affect of which is difficult to describe, other than to compare the viewers experience with that of peering into a hall of mirrors.
Note from Terry…..
This piece was made in 2012 and is engraved with the artist’s signature and the name of the piece R1683. It is the last piece available featuring the blue edge, which is coloured using copper sulphate in the firing. This series has been highly popular with collectors and such a piece is now hard to find. We do not really want to sell it, hence the price. But this price is realistic and will seem a bargain in 10 years time.
We have only one of these for sale
