SARAH CEMMICK – LINOCUT PRINTS

Our latest Art Exhibition features the stunning work of two renowned wildlife artists, Sarah and David Cemmick. They both live in the beautiful Eden Valley amongst the foothills of the Cumbrian Pennines where they gain inspiration from their surrounding countryside and its abundant wildlife. David has also travelled extensively and documented plant and animal species from some of the world’s most remote habitats. This has resulted in him illustrating two books focusing on the endangered Kakapo Parrot and Black Robin as well as studying coral and fish communities on Jamaica’s Morant Cays coral atoll and painting under water. Expeditions such as these have inspired David to create ‘art’ from what he has seen in nature, from field sketch to finished painting, or sculpture in bronze and clay.

Sarah studied environmental illustration at Sunderland University, and it is here that her passion for linocut printing first originated. She has since exhibited throughout the UK, been awarded the Lloyds private banking award at the Society of Wildlife Artists, and most recently supplied The National Trust with a Lino Cut for a christmas card.
